doubles well as earplugs September 21, 2009 Lydia K. Ngai (seattle, wa) I got these for $5 off ebay. This is my second time buying them since my other pair broke after 4 months or so? My friend's pair didn't make it past 2 1/2 months, but these earbuds are pretty inexpensive so, not a big loss.
I also have a pair of JVC Gumys that have stood the test of time seemingly better, but I felt like I needed a pair to help block out sound, since I'm running near the highways more often. These stay in my ears pretty well, regardless of whether I'm doing a load of laundry or running in a park. The sound is a little less crisp compared to the Gumys, but I don't mind very much.
My biggest complaint is that these don't seem to last so long and, like most sound-isolating earbuds, it magnifies body sounds (breathing, talking to self, etc.) and impact to the cord significantly. You probably already were aware of this. I wasn't when I initially purchased this. Just sayin'
EDIT (11/11): So it seems like the construction is a bit of a gamble as it varies from set to set. These broke within a week - the jack became separated from the cord!
JUNK! September 14, 2009 Sandra Gustafson (SW New York State, USA) I purchased a pair of these for use with my iPod Nano. In less than a month, I was experiencing a lot of static noise. Within days, one channel completely died. I contacted Amazon and sent them back for a replacement. Within another thirty day period, the same problems occurred. While I was corresponding with Amazon about the problems, the ear buds quit working altogether. Amazon refunded my purchase price including shipping. I ordered a set of J-lab ear buds (from Amazon, of course). It's been forty days and they still work great. I can't say if they will be a good product long-term, but they are ahead of the Griffin's so far. Also, the J-labs fit in my ears and do not fall out during exercise.
One note on sound quality - I use these exclusively to listen to pod casts so I have no endorsement on the quality of sound produced for music listeners.
Easily broken September 13, 2009 John Griffith My second pair just broke, any lateral pressure on the jack and they're toast, but they fit great.
Awesome Sound quality! August 14, 2009 D. mendoza i bought these when i purchased my iPod touch 2g, they came in and i opened the box. the first thing i noticed was that it was a little too big for my taste, so i never used them. a couple weeks later i couldnt find my apple earphones so i used these instead, i plugged them in and i was amazed by the crisp sound quality it had, the bass was so rich every instrument was heard. from that day i love these headphones but i only put them on when im home because the earphones are way too big for my ear. i have to stuff it in so it could stay even when i change the gels. overall these earphones are amazing.
Pros: GREAT sound quality
Cons: doesnt stay in your ear, unless you shove them in their.
Solid, reliable headphones August 9, 2009 L. Van Elsen (New York, NY) I've consistently been pleased with these headphones for use with my ipod. They're comfortable, and fit snugly - they'll do a good job at blocking out external sound, (e.g, in an office, or on the subway.) They sounds great - no complaints at all about the base/treble balance; the balance sounds just like my regular full-size headphones.
They're also durable, lasting a good 6 months without having to worry about how I'm stuffing them into my pockets or how they get bent. I don't expect them to last forever (especially with that sort of treatment), and at the sub $20 price, it's certainly a good value.
