don't buy this thinking it will work for your apple products. I was mislead and it DOES NOT. Waste of $10.

This cable is not for 1st Generation Touches that have been updated to current firmware. The firmware says it "can't use the unapproved hardware that's attached," or words to that effect. A little online reading says that this is not due to hardware limits, but due to Apple updating their software to exclude third-party solutions.
Not really the fault of the nice folks who want to sell us a $12 option instead of a $50 option.
AV Cables for ITouch Don't work (Apple Issue) March 4, 2010

The AV cables for my I touch arrived promptly and as promised. However, apparently due to a DRM chip in the I Touch, only Apple AV cables work for the 3rd gen Itouch. The Vendor is not at fault, but the ad should now show which devices are now supported. I'm sure, personally with no facts to back it up, that Apple has done this to make sure you buy the products from them. The same cables from Apple are $49, the price from this vendor was $13.75. I love my ITouch but this approach by Apple is highway robbery. I decided I didn't need the cables and did not seek return of the cables, hoping to find a friend that can use them.

This cable does not work with any iPod Touch whose firmware has been updated to 3.1.2 or beyond. Check the firmware on your iPod before purchasing.

I purchased this to run my 2nd Gen Itouch through a home stereo system. The audio sounds great and the quality of cable is fine. I would have rated it a 5 but it is not as pictured. The RCA connections are not a gold color. They are silver. Cable is about 4' long which should work for most applications. I did not try out the video cable.
