Customer Reviews:
4 out of 5 stars Nice little player for the money   April 17, 2010

I have been quite happy with this player. It has most of the features of more expensive players without costing a lot.

Appearance: The feel of the unit has a velvety/rubbery texture to it that I find nice and easy to grip. The surface size is not much bigger than a credit card, which is something I like, but it does mean that the viewing screen is not very big. I'll be mainly using this for playing music, so that wasn't a big factor in my decision. The color display is pleasant and sharp, with several options available to display information about the track being played. There is no belt clip or wrist strap attached to it, so it must go in a pocket or armband (again, not important to me but I state this purely for information).

Sound: This unit does not have speakers, so it must be used with headphones or external speakers. I have noticed no distortion of sound through either earbuds or my car speakers. The included earbuds (which I was not sure I could expect as it's not in the product description) are the large variety with the Sansa brand. I find this type of earbud to be difficult to use so I opted to use a different set.

Features: Internal memory is 4GB and there is a MicroSD expansion slot which I have yet to use. The FM radio picks up stations quite well. An equalizer function is available from the main menu for adjusting sound. The connecting jack is not a USB type but the wide type that is standard on most iPods. My understanding is that iPod docks will work with it, although I have not yet tested this. A voice recording function is included. A clock function is not.

Navigation: For the most part I like the way this navigates. It has a standard click-wheel and a dedicated main-menu button for easy switching of modes without interrupting the track or station currently playing. A playlist can be easily assembled on the fly, even as tracks are playing. Supposedly there is a way to load playlists from a computer to the unit, but this has not worked for me so far, and it's the only reason that I did not give my review 5 stars.

Miscellaneous: This unit was not shipped with a user manual, but one can easily be found online at the manufacturer's website. I use mine with Windows Media Player with no problems, and I believe that iTunes and others also work seamlessly with it.

Conclusion: If you want a low-cost MP3/MP4 player with a fair number of bells and whistles, this is a unit you would do well to consider.

1 out of 5 stars bought this and it wouldn't hold a charge- returned it   March 23, 2010
online shopper (USA)
This is shipped with no charging power cords, no literature, no nothing. The only reason I bought it was because I had all the "charging" accessories my other child's SANSA. I bought this "refurb" and tried to charge it overnight off the PC. No Luck. I tried with a direct AC adapter... again no luck. I sent it back, and now 2 weeks later... no replacement. They did acknowledge receiving the damaged item, but have not responded on how they plan to handle the return. Will my credit card be credited? Will I get another one? No answer to my emails other than to say "allow 5 to 10 business days after receipt of returned item." I have 2 engineering degrees and I couldn't get it to work. Run - don't walk - away from this "great deal"! Not a happy mom here!
