Great for the price July 29, 2010 Bruce Graham (Chicagoland, USA) Sounds great and you can't beat the price. The build quality is a little cheesy and the volume control is a pain, (it is opposite the earphone jack and I'm always hitting the jack with the opposing finger). The display is great and the other controls are easy to use. A great unit for less than $50.
Thought it died, but needed to reset! Hold power button for 20 seconds July 24, 2010 K. Hudson (Tempe, AZ) Well, I liked this device until about two days ago, then I thought it completely failed. I eventually went to the Sansa site technical support and found out that you've got to hold the power button for 20 seconds. Hey, it worked. I couldn't get it to turn on before, but after holding the power button down, it did start working again. I lost all my music on the device, but I have that all saved on the computer anyways. Still, after this experience, I cannot give it the super-good rating that it would have gotten otherwise.
Also, I think it is terribly wrong that most MP3 players on the market today don't have replaceable batteries, that includeds the i-Touch, i-Pod, and Zune. I had a Zune that died just after one year due to battery issues, but since you cannot replace the battery without essentially breaking open the device, you are pretty much expected to throw it away. That is crazy to me.
The only one I could on Amazon that has a replaceable battery is SanDisk Sansa e280 8 GB MP3 Player (Black).
Most cell phones will play MP3s and they have replaceable batteries. So, if you've already got a cell phone that plays MP3s, you might want to use that instead.
Good value July 18, 2010 drcarl2000 I had an Ipod before this but all I personally use an mp3 player for is to have music for the gym so this works perfectly for me. It does not have all of the bells and whistles of a more expensive unit but if all you need is something that is easy to use for music, I would recommend this. It is smaller and easier to work out with than the Ipod and the sound is decent. For $40, I would definitely go for this as opposed to spending $150 or more for a unit with more features that I would never use anyway.
Finally Committed to Digital Music July 18, 2010 Ronald A. Rodriguez Finally, admitted I needed to join the digital music age. That being said, I needed to have a player for running. I used the FM radio during my runs. I would say that is the only drawback, the reception at times is not very good.
Very satisfied w/product and it's sound quality.
Awesome player, PWNS iPod Shuffle July 15, 2010 Game Fan (New York) Great little device, incredibly small and light. Its a cinch to add songs, playlists, or albums. No need to deal with bloatware like iTunes. Display is very readable, and controls work great. I use this as my workout and jogging player as there is no way in hell I'm jogging with my iPhone and risking a $700 device dropping the ground. iPhone stays in the car, this little player stays in my hand while I jog.
