3 out of 5 stars Have a professional install...especially the back!   July 19, 2010
teach123
I had read other reviews prior to purchasing the product that warned about how hard this product was to install. However, a friend of mine said his was very easy and didn't take much time to get the bubbles out. WELL, I ordered the shield for both sides of my iPod Touch Third-Gen. The front took only about 10 minutes to install and was relatively easy and is now bubble free. Although I did have to cut apart the bottom where the "back" button is in order for the cover to stay down. The problem was with the back piece. IT DOES NOT FIT AT ALL! It supposedly covers the back and sides but it is IMPOSSIBLE to put on. Once you think you have it, a big piece starts sticking up. Pretty frustrating! I took it off and started over around 5 times before I just gave up and threw it away. Good Luck.

1 out of 5 stars I thought "I have nothing to lose by trying this product". I was wrong   June 10, 2010

After viewing their videos I purchased a zagg invisible shield. I like the idea of zagg, but it just doesn't stick like they say it will. It is ridiculously hard to install and you have to put WATER on the shield before you put it on your electronics, not a good idea! Even if you can get it on without getting fingerprints/dirt under it, the corners will start to peel away during use. Your constantly pressing down the corners and thinking "Stick! Please stick!" but it never does, so you get dirt trapped all around the loose corners. My main reason for this low rating is that after calling zagg to return my product under their "45 day guarantee", zagg informed me that I would be paying the return shipping and delivery confirmation out of pocket. Nowhere on their website could I find their "return policy". They want you to think you can try their product at no cost to you, but in reality that is far from the truth. Most companies ship return labels with products, this one gave me 30 digit number and told me to pay shipping/confirmation myself. If I wanted to be treated like an ebay customer I would buy from ebay. Dont let this company rip you off like they did me, I thought "I have nothing to lose by trying this product". I was wrong. I lost time and money.

2 out of 5 stars Can't scratch your iPod with this on. Also can't look at it or touch it.   June 9, 2010

This product essentially advertises two things. That it's nearly impossible to scratch and that it's invisible. I'm not going to gouge at it with a sharp object nor use it long enough to test the former claim. I'll just assume based on how it looks and feels, that it is pretty tough. The second claim however, is completely bogus. The invisibleSHIELD is anything but invisible. There are a few flaws that actually make it unusable by me and most iPod user standards.

INSTALLATION: it's not the easiest thing to install but I don't think this is necessarily the fault of this specific product but rather all liquid applied films. I've worked with other such products for other applications including full sized windows. In my experience none are that "hard" to install, they just take time and can be tedious. This is no exception. You can get good results in terms of installation if you take the time to work it for a while, maybe longer than most are willing to. Everyone tells me I have a lot a patience so that might be an advantage to me here. Still it's not "easy to do perfectly so I did not rate it too well in terms of installation. I've heard other films are faster to get perfect.

APPEARANCE: This is where the invisibleSHIELD loses all credibility and use. First the backside film. This was basically fine. With a lot of work I was able to get it sitting perfectly and wrapping around the sides nicely. It sill looks like you covered your iPod in lamination though so it's certainly not an upgrade in appearance. Now on to the front, there's a few things to get to and none are good.

First thing is that the film I received had several flaws in it. It had, what I can only describe as, "runs" all over the piece that covers the screen. These did not result of user error during installation but rather they were there before I installed it. Knowing nothing about the product, I figured after wetting it with the sponge and applying it they would go away. They look like water "stains" for lack of a better word. They don't really show when using the device while it's on though so I was willing to overlook it.

The next problem was that the whole film has a sort of orange peel look to it. This is apparently considered normal by the company.

The final flaw is that mine had a crease line, right out of the box, right across the screen. This makes the screen look like it has a line of pixels messed up. It is blatantly obvious no matter what you're doing and it ruins the experience completely. This is inexcusable and renders the product useless. Other reviewers report similar quality issues with their ZAGG films so this is not an anomaly or defect.

FEEL: Even putting all that aside, another inherent flaw of the product is how it feels. On the back, it really doesn't matter too much. It has a rubbery feel, which if anything improves grip. On the screen, however, how it feels as you slide your fingers over it is incredibly important. This product feels gummy, rubbery, tacky. It's impossible to slide your finger over with ease. Your finger wants to grip it. There's too much friction and it ruins the whole tactile experience. This too is inexcusable and renders the film useless.

RESULT: You're left with a product that ruins the look and feel of your iPod Touch. Apple is a company known for sleek design and looks. iPod Touch is a product exclusively designed to control via touch and feel. Putting on a product that ruins both major pillars of the device makes no sense at all.

My plan now is to go get a Power Support Crystal screen protector, which is the one officially supported by Apple and one without the issues of the invisibleSHIELD, and couple that with a case, something like the Speck Candyshell. This will actually improve the performance and appearance of my iPod. Unlike the invisibleSHIELD which decreases both.

Save your money and use it to buy a good screen protector.

UPDATE: I have replaced the invisibleSHIELD full body protector on my iPod with two different products. For the back I went with a Candyshell case by Speck. It looks and feels awesome in addition to protecting the iPod. For the screen I went with Power Support's Crystal screen protector. Now this is a great film. It actually IS invisible. You really cannot tell that there is anything on the screen. No flaws, no runs, no crease lines. It goes on incredibly simple and fast and easy. Much better product. I recommend you get that instead of the invisibleSHIELD, unless you're in rugged, military type conditions and want purely function over form.

4 out of 5 stars Very Hard Installation!   June 4, 2010
Camilo
Thus product was very hard to instal and while i was installing the shilled broke so i now have to get a warranty replacement at [...]and i have to pay for shipping of $[...]. I could install the back part easier and it actually looks very good with it and safe from scratches and other things. But i still have to replace the item. I do recommend the product because i heard that the bubbles magically disappear . So i do recommend.

2 out of 5 stars Not too happy   May 9, 2010

Bought for iPod touch. After installing, discovered a flaw in the material, right in the middle of my screen. I removed it and returned it.
