I did not know it until Iwas charging it and it said generation 2.
short battery life January 17, 2010 Garan Grey (Hollywood, CA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The battery life stated for this product is 30 hours for music and six for videos. Mine hasn't lasted through a day of casual sporadic use. Considering all the technical improvements since the personal stereo was invented 30 years ago, the sound quality isn't all that good. it's great to use for reading e-books, but the battery runs down really fast unless you set the screen brightness down to almost nothing. It would great if someone made a solar recharging case for this kind of item.
Great iPod improvement January 17, 2010 Henry C. Wolford 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I put 1500 songs and a dozen Apps on it and I'm less than 10 Gigs full. You'd have to have a huge library to need the 64 Gig one, but this is certainly needed over the 8 Gig version.
Look at the Pre January 17, 2010 reader (usa) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
My ipod video dies so I got an Ipod touch. Is OK, but you should check out the Pre. ipod has more storage but the pre has a far better user interface. ipod is better for syncing to Outlook.
excellent January 17, 2010 backcountrybum (BOISE, ID USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
It works just fine. The screen is bright and easy to read, even when the type is small. Lots of nice features. If you want to test drive it before buying, try a friend's iPod touch; or go to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, or some other store. I won't rehash the other reviews; here are some different things to note:
I got rid of my netbook and use this instead, because it is much much smaller and easier to travel with. Keep this in mind if you decide to use this in place of a netbook or laptop: Some hotels do not have wireless, but just an ethernet cable in the room. That means you can't use your iPod to connected to the Internet. You can get around this by buying something like the ASUS WL330GE Wireless pocket access point. There are other companies that make something similar.
I got the iPod touch for the following apps: the Bible, foreign language translation. The Olive Tree Bible applications are the best. And there are several foreign language translation apps that will speak back pre-determined phrases as well as phrases/sentences that you type. And there are many other helpful and fun apps too.
I also got an iPod touch 8GB 2nd Generation as a refurbished unit directly from Apple. It didn't work. Apple tech support was very easy to deal with, and shipping was free (next day UPS, both ways). I was impressed by Apple support. So, if something goes wrong with this 32GB unit, it should be easy to get it fixed.
Another thing to note: When you buy applications (or other stuff) on iTunes, you only buy it once. So, I bought the Olive Tree KJV Bible, and I can add it to both of my iPods (but only pay for the app once). So, once you make a purchase, the item is yours regardless of how many iPods you have in your family. And you do have to pay for software upgrades, but they are only $5. Hopefully Microsoft won't catch-on!
