Disappointed September 13, 2008 Alli (SoCal) 15 out of 33 found this review helpful
I have owned both iPod Touches. Returned the first because it was so buggy I couldn't stand it anymore (thank you Costco for your 90 day return policy!).
I just bought this iPod Touch 2gen, and was SO disappointed to see that find my accessories for it won't work! WTF?! I drive 8 hours from NorCal to SoCal about once a month and using my Griffin iTrip was vital for my sanity in that awful drive. Now I'm stuck with making 50 billion CDs. I love the new features on the new IPT. The speaker was a great addition, and the Nikie + iPod is really cool. I haven't used the Genius feature yet. A little annoyed that the hard case I had previously owned won't work for this one.
If you own a Bose sound system and want to buy this iPod Touch DON'T! It's not compatible. The new Nano isn't compatible either. It's possible I'll be returning this thing today...ugh. I love Apple's ipods but could they be more douchey?
What an Amazing Invention September 13, 2008 Stephanie Sane (from the Asylum) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I don't have a cellphone, don't want one, would hate being in a position where anyone could reach out and touch me anytime they wanted. However, I do have an aging ten gig iPod I bought way back when. It's showing it's age, the battery won't hold much of a charge any longer, so it was time for me to upgrade. A Nano, I thought.
But a friend has an iPhone and she showed me the nifty apps you can download. I played around, looking around in the App Store and found Kanji Flip. Okay, no Nano for me, not now. I got a Touch. You see, I was recently given the Rosetta Stone for both Japanese and Chinese . What a challenge, studying two languages, so different from English, at once. And their writing systems are so different. It's one thing to learn to speak, quite another to learn to read and write.
Yes you can do Pinyin and Romanji, but that's writing for foreigners, you wanna learn the language, you gotta learn the written part as well. And that's where the Touch or the iPhone come in. I downloaded Kanji Flip, Japan Flip, a Japanese Dictionary and I'm studying away every chance I get. They have similar little apps to help you with your Mandarin, but I've been working diligently with Japanese for two months now and am having a bit more trouble with Mandarin, though it's only been a month. I've decided to learn the Japanese writing system first, if I can, then tackle the Chinese.
What a chore, I know.
But the Touch isn't only for flashcarding Kana and Kanji, you can stuff it full of music, photos and even watch movies on it and you never have to worry about an annoying phone call interrupting your work or play.
This is quite an invention, this iPod Touch

Accessory warning September 12, 2008 Rez 12 out of 19 found this review helpful
It won't charge anymore with 1st generation accessories. Apparently Apple decided to remove firewire charging support it will charge via USB 5V pins only and most automobile and some home accessories utilize 12V firewire pins to charge. This holds true for 2nd gen ipod touch or 3g iphone. I'm so annoyed with this. The metallic back still scratches abnormally. If a butterfly lands on it, it will scratch. Do yourself a favor and purchase protective gear right away. The speaker is finally here and it should have been included in the 1st generation. Other than that it's a fun device to play with.
3g charge converters (firewire to usb) might be available on the market soon. Prepare to part with a couple of Jacksons.
Would Be A Great Purchase! September 12, 2008 Bernardo Moubayed (Maracay, Venezuela) 3 out of 88 found this review helpful

I just paid $460 for a 1st Generation and 2 weeks later a 2nd Gen is released for $399??!!!! September 10, 2008 S. Appiah (Maryland) 7 out of 104 found this review helpful
Okay, I'm seriously just VENTING....but because of my own ignorance, my husband just bought me a 32 GB 1st Generation iPod 2 weeks ago for $460 from Amazon....and now there's a NEW one for $399?? How's THAT for keeping up with technology???
I'm tempted to send it back to Amazon....Do you think Amazon would take it back because of this price job so soon after purchasing the 1st Gen??
I do love the idea of having a speaker............
SIGH.....
